Leptocoris vicinus nymph
In this superb macro shot, a fifth instar Taiwanese Leptocoris vicinus nymph can be seen carefully grooming its beak. Days after this photo was taken, this nymph endured its final molt and reached adulthood. Its age can be determined by looking at the size of its wing pads, which contain the young insect's developing wings.
