B. trivittata basking in the sun.
Noah Blades captured this vibrant macro of a curious Boisea trivittata in Indiana. B. trivittata is thought to have originated in the southwestern United States and gradually spread northeastward with the increased creation of heated man-made structures (which permit their survival overwinter). Other populations live as far south as Mexico alongside sparsely distributed southern populations of their boxelder tree (Acer negundo) host.
