Have you spotted a soapberry bug? If so, please tell us all about it! You can contact Scott, our soapberry bug expert, using the link below.

Please include as much of the following information in your e-mail as possible:

  • "Soapberry bug sighting" in the subject line
  • Location of sighting (address, city, state, country, latitude and longitude, etc.)
  • Exact location of the bug(s) (e.g. on a plant [please describe the plant], on a building, etc.)
  • Nearby plants (what kinds of plants, if any, were near where you saw the bug?)
  • Description of bug(s) (e.g. colors, patterns, what species you suspect it may be)
  • Pictures (if you have a picture [in .jpg format], please attach it to the e-mail)

Host records

Have you spotted soapberry bugs feeding or mating on plants in your garden, a park, or arboretum? If so, you may have discovered a new host plant, so please snap a photo and let us know! New hosts are regularly being discovered, especially for soapberry bugs belonging to the genus Jadera and Leptocoris. Please contact Scott, our soapberry bug expert, using the link below.

Please include as much of the following information in your e-mail as possible:

  • "Soapberry bug host record" in the subject line
  • Location of sighting (address, city, state, country, latitude and longitude, etc)
  • Pictures of the plant, especially the leaves, fruits, and seeds which will help us to identify the plant (please attach the image to your e-mail)
  • Pictures of the soapberry bugs on the plant
  • Whether or not you saw the bugs feeding or mating, or juveniles present

Your image may be selected for our Image of the Month feature! When sending images, please remember to include your name so that we can properly credit the image to you.
